Job Type: Residential
Location: Ivy Brook Subdivision - Greenville, SC
Project Year: Summer 2015 (8 Week Project)
The Gardner's hired Scott Construction Services to construct a durable screened-in porch in place of a plain concrete slab over the course of 8 weeks in the summer of 2015. First, a completely new roof system with ceiling joist and roof rafter framing was built, installed and supported by stiff knees. The ceiling of the porch was made of vinyl siding and contained recessed can lighting. Concrete footings with a double-brick foundation wall, laid by brick masons, was constructed for the permanent wall framing to sit on. The wall framing was then installed on top of the foundation wall to support the new roof. Tile layers brought the grade of the floor up and installed brick pavers to provide an aesthetically pleasing and durable porch floor. Screens were put in on the exterior to create a screened-in porch, as well as a storm door to get from inside the porch to the backyard. The final product was a pleasant screened-in porch, with a brand new roof system covered with 30-year shingles, to withstand time and allow the Gardner's to enjoy their outside porch area even more.
